Article ID: 2635303 - Last Review: November 4, 2011 - Revision: 2.0 "A synchronization error occurred between your Active Directory environment and the Hosted Archive service" error message in Exchange Hosted Archive
SYMPTOMSYou receive the following error message in Microsoft Exchange Hosted Archive (EHA): A synchronization error occurred between your Active Directory environment and the Hosted Archive service. The Hosted Archive synchronization process could not be completed because the Hosted Archive synchronization tool encountered the following issues: Alias User(s) Error: Archive User ID fabrikam.com AD Object GUID (xxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx) AD Proxy Addresses: emailuser@contoso.com Please add another proxy e-mail address to your Active Directory object that matches the above Hosted Archive user ID. CAUSEThis issue occurs because the emailuser user who is mentioned in the error message is linked to the archived account and has the same Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) object GUID. However, the account name that is used for the Archive user ID (logon ID) is not defined as an alias for the emailuser user object. Therefore, a mismatch is detected. For example, AD DS has a1 and b1, whereas the archive database has c1 and b1. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, add the alias of the Archive user ID to AD DS.
