Windows Me-Based Computer Hangs When You Try to End a Task

SYMPTOMS

When you try to end a task that is listed in the Close Program dialog box, you may receive an error message that indicates the program is not responding. If you then try to move this error message dialog box, your computer may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you are using a Universal Serial Bus (USB) mouse.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, do not try to move this error message dialog box. Instead, click End Task or Cancel when you receive the error message that indicates the program is not responding.
