The IMs from a federated user are not captured and archived in a Lync Server 2010 environment

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario: 
  • An Archiving server is deployed and running in a Microsoft Lync Server 2010 environment.
  • The environment is enabled for federated user access.
  • The Archiving policy for both the internal and external users is enabled.
In this scenario, the IMs from the federated user are not captured and archived. This issue occurs if one of the following conditions are true:
  • A multi-party IM conference that involves at least one federated user is created.
  • A peer to peer IM is escalated to a conference with federated users.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
