Visio2000: When You Connect a Child to a Different Parent, the Operation Is Not Updated in the Directory Navigator

SYMPTOMS

When you create a child in the Directory navigator, drop it on the page, and then connect it to a different parent with a connector tool, the operation is not updated in the Directory navigator.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.  This problem was corrected in Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Start Visio.
  2. Open the Active Directory template, and drop some shapes on the page.
  3. Add a child to the Directory navigator, and then drag the child onto the page.
  4. Select the connector tool, and then connect the child to a different parent. Note that in the Directory navigator, the child is still connected to the original parent.
