SYMPTOMS

When you run a Microsoft .NET Framework 4-based application, the application may crash intermittently. When this issue occurs, two error events that resemble the following are logged in the Application log.

CAUSE

The issue occurs because an object that is being referenced is dereferenced by the garbage collector in common language runtime 4 (CLR4). Therefore, an access violation occurs during garbage collection or when the application tries to access the released object.


RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
