Domains do not appear in the Available Domains list in the FOPE Directory Sync Tool

Symptoms

When you look in the Available Domains list in the Microsoft Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) Directory Sync Tool (FOPE), no domains are displayed in the list.

Cause

This issue may occur if one of the following conditions is true:
  • Directory Services is not enabled for each affected domain.
  • The FOPE Administration Center account that is used in the FOPE Directory Sync Tool does not have organization-level Administrator permissions.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for your situation.

Method 1

Enable Directory Services for each affected domain. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Sign in to the FOPE Administration Center.
  2. Click Administration, and then click Domains.
  3. Select the domain that you are working with.
  4. Under Service Settings, next to User List Settings, click Edit.
  5. Set User List source to Directory Sync Tool.
  6. Under Directory-Based Edge Blocking mode, select Reject to enable directory-based edge blocking.
Method 2

If the FOPE Administration Center account that is used in the FOPE Directory Sync Tool does not have organization-level Administrator permissions, contact Technical Support for your area. Information about how to contact Technical Support is located in the Resources area on the Information tab of the FOPE Administration Center.
