The Union and Intersect of overlapping shapes is not correct.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.  This problem was corrected in Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Draw an object.
  2. Create an identical object, and then place it on top of the original.
  3. Select both shapes.
  4. On the Shape menu, point to Operations, and then click either Union or Intersect. Note that the shapes disappear.
