Visio2000: "Cannot Read from Read Only File" Error Message When You Run Shape Explorer from a Read-Only Network Drive

In Visio 2000 Edition, when you run Shape Explorer from a read-only network drive, you may receive the following error message:

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.  This problem was corrected in Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

From a read-only network drive:

• On the Tools menu, click Macros, and then click Shape Explorer. Note that you receive the error message mentioned in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
