FIX: Bulk Load Operation on Nchar Field Pads Incorrectly

SYMPTOMS

When you bulk load data on a column that is declared as NCHAR the field is padded with null characters (ASCII value 0) instead of spaces (ASCII value 32).

WORKAROUND

Set ANSI_PADDING to OFF before you create the destination table for the bulk load operation.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
