Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use Microsoft BizTalk Server Adapter for Host Systems 2.0 in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2009.

  • You configure Send Ports to use the BizTalk Adapter for Host Applications (HostApps).

  • You do not configure the HostApps adapter to use the TI Remote Environment Type property of <Any host type>. Instead, you configure the property to use one of the following:

    • TRM Link

    • IMS Connect

    • SNA Link

In this scenario, after you apply Host Integration Server 2009 Cumulative Update 1 (CU1), Cumulative Update 2 (CU2), or Cumulative Update 3 (CU3), Send Ports that use the HostApps adapter are suspended when new messages are submitted. Additionally, an error message that resembles the following is logged in the Application log:

Cause

This problem occurs because Host Integration Server 2009 cumulative update 1 (CU1) includes a change that renames the Remote Environment types for the BizTalk Adapter for Host Applications (HostApps). This causes an incompatibility with Remote Environment types that were used in the initial Host Integration Server 2009 release.

Resolution

The hotfix that resolves this issue is included in cumulative update package 4 for Host Integration Server 2009.

Workaround

To work around this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Delete the existing Remote Environments (REs) in the TI Manager MMC snap-in.

  2. Re-create the Remote Environments in the TI Manager MMC snap-in.

  3. Delete the Send Ports that use the HostApps adapter.

  4. Re-create the Send Ports that use the HostApps adapter.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

More Information

This problem does not occur if the Send Ports that use the HostApps adapter are configured to use a TI Remote Environment Type property of <Any host type>. The HostApps Transport Properties dialog box includes the following Host Type if <Any host type> is selected:

TI/<any host type>/<Default RE>
