Visio2000: Rotating an Imported DWG File Blanks Out the Drawing Page

SYMPTOMS

When you rotate an imported DWG file, the DWG file disappears. It then reappears when you rotate it another 360 degrees.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

To temporarily work around this problem, rotate the selection another 360 degrees.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.  This problem was corrected in Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Start Visio.
  2. Open any existing DWG file.
  3. Import the DWG file by using the default options.
  4. Right-click the file, click Format, and then click Protection.
  5. Make sure that Rotation is not selected.
  6. Press CTRL+R or CTRL+L.

    Note that the DWG file disappears.
