SYMPTOMS

When you double-click the Format Painter button, Excel stops responding, and you may receive either of the following error messages:
DateMigration:
Run-time error 28
Out of Stack Space
-or-
DateMigration:
Run-time error '-2147417848(80010108)':
Method '~' of object '~' failed
followed by
DateMigration:
Run-time error '1004'
Unable to get the HasFormula property of the Range class
After Excel stops responding, you must end the Excel task in the Microsoft Windows Task Manager.

If you received the "Out of Stack Space" error message, Excel then prompts you to save changes in unsaved workbooks.

If you received the two other error messages, any unsaved changes to the workbooks are lost.
