SYMPTOMS

When you save your publication as a Web page in Microsoft Publisher 2000, you may receive the following error message when you click a hyperlink on the Web page:
The page cannot be found.

The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the hyperlink contains a tilde (~) character.

When you save your publication as a Web page, Publisher 2000 converts the tilde character in a hyperlink to the character string "%7e".

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, use an HTML editor to change the "%7e" string in the hyperlink back to the tilde (~) character.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Publisher 2000.
