OL2000: (CW) Corporate Workgroup LDAP Service Does Not Support SSL

NOTE: The procedures in this article only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. With this option, you can use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, click About Microsoft Outlook on the Help menu. If you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation, you see "Corporate or Workgroup".

SYMPTOMS

The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) service for Outlook 2000 Corporate Workgroup (CW) does not support Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for secure connections.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Outlook service pack that contains this hotfix.
