SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 environment, you may notice that the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 ignores positive SQLCodes that are returned from DB2. For example, if DB2/MVS (which refers to DB2 for z/OS) returns a SQLCode=+802, SQLState=01519 error, this indicates that a general arithmetic error occurred during the operation. This error might be an overflow error, a divide-by-zero error, or a similar error.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the hotfix that is described later in this section.

If you want to capture warning messages as error messages, add the new Db2WarningsAsError registry variable to the following registry location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Host Integration Server\Data Integration

Value name: Db2WarningsAsError
Value type: REG_MULTI_SZ (Multi-string value)
Value data: SQLCodes that you want to capture as an exception in your application (for example, 105, 408, and 802). Each SQLCode must be on a separate line, as in the following example:

SQLCodes

This new entry enables positive SQLCode warning messages such as divide by zero or decimal overflow to return an exception error to the application.

For example, a decimal-overflow warning message on DB2/MVS is displayed as an exception error that resembles the following:
EXCEPTION ERROR DECIMAL OVERFLOW?MULTIPLICATION?DECIMAL?XXX HAS OCCURRED DURING  OPERATION ON  DATA, POSITION SQLSTATE:01519, SQLCODE: 802
Or, a divide-by-zero warning message is displayed as an exception error that resembles the following:
EXCEPTION ERROR ZERO DIVIDE?DIVISION?DECIMAL?001? HAS OCCURRED DURING OPERATION ON DATA, POSITION SQLSTATE: 01519, SQLCODE: 802
