Norton AntiVirus Error Message When You Install SP1

SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Service Pack 2 (SP2) on a computer with Symantec Norton AntiVirus 6.10.01, you are prompted to quarantine or ignore the Xmldso.cab file. If you choose to quarantine the file, you may receive the following Norton AntiVirus error message:
Norton Intergrator
an unhandled exception has occurred
Not enough storage is available to process the command
You receive the error message even after you remove SP1.

To work around this behavior, close all programs and disable any anti-virus software before you install a Windows 2000 service pack.

The Windows 2000 SP1 Readme.txt file states:
Close all open applications and disable all virus scanners to make sure that the executable program can replace system files that are in use.
According to Symantec Technical Support, the Office 2000 NAV plugin needs to be uninstalled manually before installing SP1. For more details, please refer to information on Symantec's web site at:
