SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You connect a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device to a wireless local area network (LAN) by enabling the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) option.
  • The device obtains an IP address successfully.
  • You suspend the device.
  • You configure the static IP address of another device that is connected to the same wireless LAN network. This static IP address is the same IP address as the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device.
  • You resume the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device.

In this scenario, you receive an IP address conflict message on the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device. Additionally, the IP address of the device is 0.0.0.0.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 does not send a DHCP decline message when a duplicate IP address is detected.
