Article ID: 267426 - Last Review: January 27, 2007 - Revision: 1.3 Previously Scheduled Tasks Start Even After System Restore Changes ConfigurationsThis article was previously published under Q267426 SYMPTOMS
When you schedule certain tasks (set up Scheduled Tasks) to start when you log on to your computer, and then you use System Restore to restore your computer system to a pre-existing configuration (before you scheduled the tasks), Scheduled Tasks may run after you log on to your computer even though System Restore successfully restored your computer system's configurations.
CAUSE
The settings for Scheduled Tasks are stored in a file with a .job extension within the %Windir%\Tasks folder. System Restore does not monitor this particular file type so when you restore your system, the settings are maintained. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
