SYMPTOMS

When you change the Start menu icons to small icons, and then restart the computer in Safe Mode, the small icon settings are not preserved.

When you restart the computer in normal mode, the Show small icons in Start Menu setting is not restored.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, reselect the Show Small icons in Start Menu to return to the small icons setting.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition.
