Cannot Reinstall SurfWatch 3.0 After You Run the System Restore Tool

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install the SurfWatch version 3.0 program, you may receive the following error message:
Password is incorrect.

CAUSE

This issue can occur after you uninstall the SurfWatch 3.0 program, and then run the System Restore tool. After you do so, SurfWatch 3.0 Setup detects that the SurfWatch password has been altered and Setup does not continue.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue:
  1. Rename the Co_ro_nt.dat file in the Windows/Program Files/SurfWatch folder to Co_ro_nt.old. To rename a file, right-click the file, click Rename, type the new file name, and then press ENTER.
  2. Run the System Restore tool.
  3. Rename the Co_ro_nt.old file to Co_ro_nt.dat.
  4. Reinstall SurfWatch 3.0.
