Adding a library that contains reserved characters to System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager causes the console to crash

Symptoms

When adding a library share to System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager, the console may crash if the share being used contains certain reserved characters (e.g. > or ?, etc.).

Cause

Use of these reserved characters is not permitted.  See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa365247(v=vs.85).aspx for more information.

Resolution

Do not use any folder or share that contains reserved characters.
