Syntax error when you update Word 97 SUM fields in a Word 2000 document

When you open a Microsoft Word 97 document in Microsoft Word 2000 and then update fields, a SUM field shows a syntax error.

Word 2000 does not correctly interpret the SUM formula field code in documents that were created in French, German, and Spanish versions of Word 97.
