When you open a document read-only within an Open Document Management (ODMA) system and then close the document within Word, the source document is deleted. The next time the document management system attempts to open the document, you receive the following error message:
This file could not be found
CAUSE
When you open a document within Word 2000 that contains a write password, and the document is opened read-only, Word contains an optimization to check whether the file is in the file system. ODMA files are marked as not being in the file system, and the files are marked as temp files. The optimization within Word is not to create a temp file and to use the source file. Later, when the file is closed, Word deletes the file.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do the following:
