SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You enable Encryption File System (EFS) on a folder on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • You add the EFS-encrypted folder to indexing scopes on the local file system.
  • You search for content within the encrypted folder.
In this scenario, the search result does not show the content.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Searchprotocolhost.exe process cannot access the network, regardless of the user’s Security Identifier (SID).
