version 7.0.0.1956, Adaptec Easy CD Creator version 4 may not work correctly.
CAUSE This is caused by the removal of shared components during
the Windows Media Player uninstall that are also used by Adaptec Easy CD
creator version 4. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method: Before You Install Windows Media PlayerUse one of the following methods:
After You Install Windows Media PlayerNOTE: After you perform the following steps, you can use the "Copy to CD" feature in Windows Media Player, but you cannot use the CD-creation capabilities in Easy CD Creator prior to version 4.02. If you want to use the CD-creation capabilities in Easy CD Creator prior to version 4.02 instead of the "Copy to CD" feature in Windows Media Player, see the "You Want to Create CDs in Easy CD Creator prior to version 4.02 Instead of Windows Media Player" section later in this article.To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method: Method 1If Windows 2000 is installed on a FAT or FAT32 partition, restart the computer with a startup disk in the floppy disk drive. At a command prompt, delete the %SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers\Cdr4vsd.sys file, and then restart your computer.Method 2Restart the computer with the Windows 2000 installation CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. Choose Repair a Windows 2000 installation, and then choose Recovery Console. In Recovery Console, delete the %SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers\Cdr4vsd.sys file, and then restart your computer. You Want to Create CDs in Easy CD Creator prior to version 4.02 Instead of Windows Media PlayerNOTE: If you enable the ability to create CDs in Easy CD Creator prior to version 4.02, the "Copy to CD" feature in Windows Media Player is disabled.Restart your computer. When you see the "Starting Windows" message, press F8. Choose Last Known Good Configuration on the Windows 2000 Advanced Options menu, and then restart your computer. NOTE: You may want to contact Adaptec to inquire about the availability of a version of Easy CD Creator that is designed to work with Windows 2000.
