FIX: COM+ Dispenser Manager Doesn't Close Pooled Resources

SYMPTOMS

A COM+ application that uses the COM+ dispenser manager to pool resources (such as OLE DB or ODBC database connections) may see a build-up of open, unused resources when it runs under a heavy load.

CAUSE

This is caused by a failure of the background thread that purges the resource pool of currently unused resources.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
