SYMPTOMS

When you are working in an Office program with an Office Assistant displayed, a loud sound may be emitted from the computer for no apparent reason.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, turn off the Make Sounds command in the Office Assistants options. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. With the Office Assistant displayed on screen, click the Office Assistant once.
  2. In the What would you like to do? balloon, click the Options button.
  3. In the Office Assistants dialog box, select the Options tab, and then clear the Make Sounds check box.
