Assume that you try to disable an ATA channel by using Device Manager on a Windows Server 2008-based or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer. However, the associated Microsoft Management Console (MMC) stops responding, and the operation is not completed. Additionally, if you try to restart or shut down the computer, the computer does not shut down, and you receive the following Stop error message after 10 minutes:
Stop 0x0000009F
Note This issue also occurs when you use a command line tool (for example, Devcon.exe) to disable the ATA channel.
This issue occurs because of a race condition in the Ataport.sys driver. This behavior causes an incorrect reference count on an ATA channel extension when the channel extension is started.
Important This hotfix has been re-released to address an issue in which the digital signature on files produced and signed by Microsoft will expire prematurely, as described in Microsoft Security Advisory 2749655

GDR service branches contain only those fixes that are widely released to address widespread, extremely important issues. LDR service branches contain hotfixes in addition to widely released fixes.
The MANIFEST files (.manifest) and the MUM files (.mum) that are installed for each environment are listed separately in the "Additional file information for Windows Server 2008 R2" section. MUM and MANIFEST files, and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are extremely important to maintain the state of the updated components.
