PPT2001: Animations Assigned to Slide Masters Do Not Appear in PowerPoint Movie Format

SYMPTOMS

Slide masters in Microsoft PowerPoint control certain text and object characteristics for all slides based on the slide masters. If you make a change to a placeholder in a slide master (for example, you add animation), that change is displayed in all the slides based on that slide master when you view the SlideShow.

However, if you save a PowerPoint document in PowerPoint Movie format, any slides based on a slide master that has had animations assigned to it do not display those animations when the movie is played.

RESOLUTION

To display the animations in PowerPoint Movie format, apply them directly to the items in each slide, instead of applying them to the placeholders in the slide masters.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
