In Office 365 for small businesses (pre-upgrade), you try to perform one of the following actions in the Office 365 pre-upgrade portal:
- Locate the service settings for instant messaging and online meetings
- Turn on or turn off external communication
- Manage or set up dial-in conferencing
- Set viewing permissions for online presence
However, you receive one of the following error messages:
Sorry, We're setting Lync up. Please try again later. If the problem doesn’t go away, please contact us through the Office 365 Community.
Sorry we can't turn external communication off at the moment.
Sorry! We haven’t been able to complete your request because of service issues. Please try again in a little while.
Sorry, we’re setting up Lync for you.
This issue occurs because the Office 365 pre-upgrade portal can't connect to the Microsoft Lync Online service for your company to obtain the service settings for instant messaging and online meetings.
Wait several minutes, and then try again. If the problem continues after 24 hours, contact Support through the Office 365 Community.
