When you are using an IBM Rapid Access III keyboard, you may receive the following error message when you resume your computer from a hibernation state:
Hidserv has caused an error in kernel32.dll Hidserv will now close If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer CAUSE
The HID server is not correctly recognizing the Rapid Access III keyboard when the computer returns from a hibernation state.
RESOLUTIONWindows Millennium EditionA supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix. These versions include Japanese and Chinese. The newer version of the fix addresses these additional problems and replaces the original version. If you have applied the earlier version of the fix on non-DCBS versions of Windows Me, you do not need to apply the newer version of the fix (although you can if you want to). Windows 2000A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix.
