SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • In a Microsoft Lync Server 2010 environment, you install the cumulative updates for Lync Server 2010 that were released in or after November 2011.
  • User A is a Lync 2010 user whose SIP address contains an apostrophe (').
  • User A creates a meeting and then invites user B to the meeting.
In this scenario, user B cannot join the meeting.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the apostrophe in user A's SIP address causes the information that contains user B's uniform resource identifier (URI) to be truncated. Therefore, the information that Lync 2010 uses to connect user B to the meeting is incomplete.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
2708616 Description of the cumulative update for Lync Server 2010, Web Conferencing Server: June 2012
