FIX: "An error occurred while saving the subscription view" error when you create a subscription view against a recursive-derived hierarchy in SQL Server 2012 Master Data Services

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a recursive-derived hierarchy that has one or more non-recursive levels under the recursive relationship in SQL Server 2012 Master Data Services.
  • You create a subscription view against the recursive-derived hierarchy.
In this scenario, the view creation behavior fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
An error occurred while saving the subscription view

The SQL Server 2012 builds that were released after SQL Server 2012 was released
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 hotfixes are created for specific SQL Server service packs. You must apply a SQL Server 2012 Service Pack RTM hotfix to an installation of SQL Server 2012 Service Pack RTM. By default, any hotfix that is provided in a SQL Server service pack is included in the next SQL Server service pack.
