When you create a PivotTable in the Japanese version of Microsoft Excel, the invalid value "1.7977E+308" is displayed in calculations of Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) cube fields, even if the server returns correct data.

This behavior occurs because there is a problem in how Excel handles error values or floating values when it retrieves data by using OLEDB provider for OLAP services.

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

To temporarily work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Open the workbook that contains the PivotTable.
  2. On the File menu, click Save As Web Page, and then click Publish.
  3. Under Items to publish, click PivotTable in the Choose list.
  4. Click to select the Add Interactivity with check box, and then click PivotTable Functionality in the drop-down list.
  5. Type a file name, and then click Publish.
  6. Open the saved file in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 2.
