Summary

Cumulative Update 4 (CU4) for Microsoft System Center Service Manager 2010 is available for download at the Microsoft Download website. This cumulative update is a rollup of fixes for System Center Service Manager 2010 and supersedes Cumulative Update 3 (CU3), Cumulative Update 2 (CU2), and Cumulative Update 1 (CU1). CU4 contains a superset of the fixes that are provided in CU3, in CU2, and in CU1. You can apply CU4 to CU3, to CU2, or to CU1, or you can apply CU4 directly to a Service Manager 2010 installation.

This update fixes an issue in which the wrong time stamp is used for incidents that are created by the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) connector.

How to install this cumulative update

Important Before you install this cumulative update, we recommend that you follow these steps:
  1. Back up the ServiceManager database, the DWDataMart database, the DWRepository database, and the DWStagingAndConfig database.
  2. Back up the encryption keys for SM Server and for Data Warehouse Management Server (DW Server).

Note This cumulative update cannot be uninstalled after you install it.

To install this cumulative update, follow these steps:
  1. Exit all Service Manager-related applications. For example, exit the Service Manager Console, the Self-Service Portal links, and the Authoring tool.
  2. Download the cumulative update to a target folder.

    Note The cumulative update is available in an x86 version and in an x64 version. Download the appropriate version of the cumulative update for the system that you are running. 
  3. Open the target folder.
  4. Right-click SCSM2010SP1_CU_KB2719826_i386_7.0.6555.131.exe or SCSM2010SP1_CU_KB2719826_AMD64_7.0.6555.131.exe, and then click Run as administrator.
  5. Accept the Microsoft Software License Terms, and then follow the steps in the installation wizard.

How to verify a successful installation of this cumulative update

  1. In Control Panel, open Programs and Features.
  2. Click View installed updates.
  3. The following item should be displayed in the list of installed updates:
    • Hotfix for Microsoft System Center Service Manager (SCSM2010SP1_CU_KB2719826)
