FIX: "Could not open embedded Powerpivot data" error when a non-administrator user starts SQL Server 2012 PowerPivot for Excel 2010Article ID: 2721122 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageMicrosoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) fixes in one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) update release. SymptomsConsider the following scenario:
Embedded Analysis Services Engine: Could not open embedded Powerpivot data. CauseThis issue occurs because the embedded PowerPivot engine incorrectly checks for the SeIncreaseBasePriorityPrivilege permission. By default, a regular user does not have SeIncreaseBasePriorityPrivilege permission. Therefore, an error is generated. Note The SeIncreaseBasePriorityPrivilege permission lets a user raise the scheduling priority of a process and increase the working set of the process. This speeds up execution of the process.
