Windows 2000 SP1 Computer Hangs When You Use IEEE 1394 Digital Camera in NetMeeting

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 1394 digital camera in Microsoft NetMeeting, your computer may stop responding (hang). Note that this problem only occurs with Windows 2000 Service Pack 1-based computers.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because of a change that was made to the IEEE 1394 Driver Development Kit (DDK) after the Sonydcam.sys driver file was created. This change causes buffer incompatibilities between the original Sonydcam.sys driver file and Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) binaries.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
