Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You configure a read-only replicated folder on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • You configure several read or write replicas on certain member computers that are running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2003 R2.
  • You pre-seed the read-only replicated folder while users continually update the files in the read or write replicas.
  • You create a replication group that contains the read-only replicated folder and the read or write replicas.
  • The initial synchronization starts.
In this scenario, the files are not replicated to the read-only replicas.

Cause

This issue occurs because the initial synchronization from the read or write replicas to the read-only replica does not overwrite files differences on the read-only replica.

Resolution

This hotfix is also available at Microsoft Update Catalog.

Important Windows 7 hotfixes and Windows Server 2008 R2 hotfixes are included in the same packages. However, hotfixes on the Hotfix Request page are listed under both operating systems. To request the hotfix package that applies to one or both operating systems, select the hotfix that is listed under "Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2" on the page. Always refer to the "Applies To" section in articles to determine the actual operating system that each hotfix applies to.
