Summary

This article describes how to configure Entourage to use a new or existing Outlook.com account.

More information

Outlook.com accounts are Web-based mail accounts. You can use Entourage to send and to receive messages from an Outlook.com account without a connection to the Outlook.com Web site. Messages that are from an Outlook.com account remain on the mail server. When you connect to the Outlook.com server, your messages appear in the Folder List pane under the name of your Outlook.com account.

How to configure an existing Outlook.com account

The steps in this section apply if you already have a premier Outlook.com account. To configure Microsoft Entourage 2001 for Mac and Microsoft Entourage X for Mac to use your Outlook.com account, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  2. In the Accounts window, click the Mail tab, and then click New. The Account Setup Assistant appears.
  3. In the Your name box, type the name that you want viewers to see, and then click the right arrow to continue to the next page.
  4. On the Your E-mail Address (Internet E-mail Address in Entourage 2001) page, click I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use.
  5. In the E-mail Address box, type your Outlook.com e-mail address. For example, type username@outlook.com. Click the right arrow to continue to the next page.
  6. On the Sign-in Name and Password (Outlook.com Logon in Entourage 2001) page, type your Outlook.com account ID in the Sign-in name (Account ID in Entourage 2001) box, and then type your Outlook.com password in the Password box. Click the right arrow to continue to the next page.
  7. On the Congratulations page, type a name for your Outlook.com account in the Account name box. To include the account in your Send & Receive All schedule, click to select the corresponding check box.
  8. Click Finish to save the settings.
To configure Entourage 2004 to use your Outlook.com account, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  2. In the Accounts window, select the Mail tab, and then click New. The Account Setup Assistant appears.
  3. On the Set Up a Mail Account page, type your Outlook.com e-mail address in the E-mail address box. For example, type username@outlook.com. Click the right arrow to continue to the next page.
  4. If Entourage 2004 succeeds in automatically determining the server settings, the Account Setup Assistant prompts you to click the right arrow to continue to the next page. If the automatic configuration fails, click the left arrow to return to the previous page and to correct your e-mail address.
  5. On the Verify and Complete Settings page, you can confirm your name and e-mail address and enter your password. This is optional. Click the right arrow to continue to the next page.
  6. On the Optional: Verify Settings page, you can verify the setting by clicking Verify My Settings. Click the left arrow to return to the previous page to edit your settings, or click the right arrow to continue.
  7. In the dialog box that appears, click Verify your account settings or Skip to the next page.
  8. On the Setup Complete page, type a name for your Outlook.com account in the Account name box. To include the account in your Send & Receive All schedule, click to select the corresponding check box.
  9. Click Finish to save the settings.
Your Outlook.com account appears in the Folder List pane. After you receive the account information from the Outlook.com logon server, your Outlook.com folder structure appears when you click the blue triangle arrow.

How to obtain a new Outlook.com account to use with Entourage

You can no longer use Entourage to access your free Outlook.com accounts. To obtain access to your accounts from Entourage, you have to purchase a subscription service, such as MSN Premium. For more information about these subscription services, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
