SYMPTOMS

If you save a Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Mac presentation as a PowerPoint Movie, and then attempt to insert that movie in a PowerPoint 2000 presentation, you receive the following error message:
PowerPoint couldn't insert a movie from the selected file. Either the file is non-standard, or QuickTime is not installed properly.

CAUSE

Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 for Windows does not support the playing of QuickTime movies.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, save the Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Mac presentation as a presentation (.ppt) file, and then open this file in PowerPoint 2000 and modify it, if needed. You cannot insert it as a movie into a PowerPoint 2000 presentation.
