Symptoms

Assume that you run an application on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. When the application calls the SpAcceptLsaModeContext function by using a CredGroup object that differs from the CredGroup object in the security context, the Lsass.exe process crashes.

For example, when Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway tries to validate credentials by using an SSL connection, the Lsass.exe process crashes.

Note If the Lsass.exe process crashes on the main Domain Controller, you cannot use functions that are related to user authentication on a client computer in the environment. Additionally, after the Lsass.exe process crashes, you receive Group Policy errors, authentication errors, and connection errors on the client computer.
