Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 fix release.

Symptoms

When you run a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query against a cube that contains a partition in relational OLAP (ROLAP) storage mode in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2), the query returns incorrect results.

This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • The MDX query contains a DRILLTHROUGH statement.

  • The MDX query references a parent/child hierarchy dimension.

  • The MDX query contains a filter that references a non-parent attribute in the parent/child hierarchy dimension.

Cause

The issue occurs because the filter on the non-parent attribute is ignored incorrectly.
