When Word automatically recovers a document from a previous session of Microsoft Word, macros contained in the document are enabled, and no macro warning message is displayed.
CAUSE
When Microsoft Word starts, it checks the following locations for AutoRecover (*.asd) files but does not check the files for macros:
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the Word Mail Merge Security Update. This update is designed to patch Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1) installations. For additional information about obtaining and installing SR-1, click the article number below

This update has already been installed.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Word 2000 update. Please see the "Resolution" section of this article for more information.
MORE INFORMATION
After you install this update, the Macro Warning dialog box will be displayed to allow you to either enable macros or disable macros when Microsoft Word attempts to open an AutoRecover (*.asd) file.
