FIX: FAST_FORWARD Cursors Perform Slower

SYMPTOMS

FAST_FORWARD cursors are twice as slow on SQL Server 7.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Service Pack 2 (SP2) as compared to Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 without any service packs.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 7.0 with Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 installed.

The same operation works fine in pre-sp1 builds.

This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server version 7.0. For information about downloading and installing the latest SQL Server Service Pack, see the following Web address:
