More information

Manual removal

To manually remove a Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Release Candidate product, we recommend that you first uninstall the main product or products, such as Microsoft Visual Studio Ultimate 2012 Release Candidate. Then, uninstall any other supporting products that may be installed.

Note The order in which you uninstall products is important.

User-generated assets such as project files and custom settings are not removed or affected when you uninstall Visual Studio.

To uninstall Visual Studio, follow these steps:
  1. Open the Programs and Features item in Control Panel. To do this, click Start, click Control Panel, click Programs, and then click Programs and Features. Or, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, and then click Run. (Or, on a Windows keyboard, press the Windows logo key+R.)
    2. In the Open box, type control appwiz.cpl, and then click OK or press Enter.
  2. Uninstall all the installed main products in the following list.

Note The order in which you uninstall products is important. Uninstall the installed products in the following order:
    • Microsoft Visual Studio Ultimate 2012 Release Candidate
    • Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Premium Release Candidate
    • Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Professional Release Candidate
    • Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Express for Windows 8 Release Candidate
    • Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Express for Web Release Candidate

Hint In Control Panel, you can search for "Microsoft Visual Studio 2012" to filter the list of products to any of those that are listed here.

  3. Click View installed updates. If you find "July 2012 Update for Visual Studio 2012 (KB2703187)" listed, uninstall it.

Optional shared products

Optionally, you can uninstall the following shared products that may also be installed with Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Release Candidate. Sometimes, an item may continue to appear even after you uninstall it. If this happens, uninstall it again, because more than one product with the same name may be installed.

If you are warned that uninstalling a product may affect other products, click Yes to continue, because you will be removing all Visual Studio 2012-related products anyway.

Note The order in which you uninstall products is important. Uninstall the installed products in the following order.
