WD2000: Word Document Is Deleted When Opened Read-only via a Hyperlink

SYMPTOMS

When a Word document is opened via a hyperlink in Microsoft Internet Explorer, the document may be deleted from the server when the following occurs:
  • A user opens the document with read/write access,
  • a second user opens the document with read-only access, and then
  • the first user closes the document before the second user closes it.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The French version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:
