Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You configure a suspend time-out value for a device that is running a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based runtime image. The value is set in the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts
  • You try to download a large file from the network on the device.

  • You stop performing operations on the device, and you keep the device inactive.

In this scenario, the device is suspended before the download process is completed.

Note The download process does not finish before the configured suspend time-out period is reached.

Resolution

This hotfix adds the NoIdleIfConnected registry entry to the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Tcpip6\Parms\GlobalParams

Note If NoIdleIfConnected registry value is set to 1, the device is not suspended when there is active network traffic. If NoIdleIfConnected registry value is not present or it is set to 0, the fix is not enabled.
