When you attempt to install Windows 2000 on an Intelligent Drive Electronics (IDE)-based or UltraDMA66/ATA66-based computer, you may receive the following error message:
STOP 0x0000007A (0xc03f33fc, 0xc000000e, 0xfccffcba, ox0696b860) KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR ***Address xxxxxxxx has base at xxxxyyyy - atapi.sys CAUSE
This issue can occur if you have the UlraDMA66/ATA66 (80 wire/40 pin) IDE cable attached to the drive that you are trying to install Windows 2000 on. Windows 2000 does not fully support the UltraDMA66 controller.

To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:

This error may also be displayed when you attempt to install Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 or other programs from the CD-ROM drive. Check the manufacturer of your motherboard for updated ATA66 drivers for Windows 2000 that fully resolve this issue. When you are installing Windows 2000 Professional, you may receive the following error messages:
