Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You use the Transaction Integrator application in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 to connect to an IBM iSeries (AS/400) system. 
  • You configure Transaction Integrator to use Enterprise Single Sign-On to look up IBM host user credentials.
  • The user credentials are sent to the IBM iSeries system when Transaction Integrator applications are running.
In this scenario, Transaction Integrator crashes, and you receive the following error message:
(2183) HISMDTT0008 The DPCTransport received a start server reply indicating a failure while processing method MethodName. IP Address: host address or name, port: port number, Primary error code 1, Secondary error code 7, error description Invalid UserId length..
Note This issue occurs if you have one of the following cumulative update packages installed:
  • Cumulative update package 2 for Host Integration Server 2010
  • Cumulative update package 3 for Host Integration Server 2010
  • Cumulative update package 4 for Host Integration Server 2010
  • Cumulative update package 5 for Host Integration Server 2010

Resolution

To resolve this problem, apply either the cumulative update or the hotfix that is mentioned in this article.
