Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You create a linked server to Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
  • You try to run an SQL statement that calls the sys.sp_tables_info_90_rowset_64 system stored procedure to access a table from a default instance of SQL Server 2012.
  • The table has more than 2.5 billion records.
In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
Msg 8115, Level 16, State 2, Procedure sp_tables_info_90_rowset_64, Line 9

Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type int.
Note This issue occurs when you configure SQL Server 2012 as a destination server.
